The Race of Life

Brushing my hair, powerful winds get drowned by
Rapturous beehives cheering and clapping
And stomping and screaming deafeningly
For me? Or my right opponent? Or left?

Track‒never-ending belt of mahogany
Chance of success so slim‒with end in reach
Take that final lunge and throw my chest up
I have to win; win for all who couldn’t.

Yet, I represent what I never should have,
A champion shining like burning stars.
No one believed, so I had no choice but to…
To finally achieve my American Dream.

Although I may stand alone in this crowd,
I still have sole rights to live my life proud.
