It's about pain and poverty

Give me a million reasons,
To be happy thinking,
That at sunset these people,
Living in miserable ghettos,
Can be happy, alone, and hungry!?

Give me a million reasons,
That the world has not forgotten these people,
Who didn't get the chance you had,
To be happy with what you call gratitude,
Money, houses, and not to be alone in their souls.

Give me a million reasons,
Saying that you are ready to help them,
Being more generous with these "beaten of fate",
To hear you say that your thoughts,
It's heading to your pockets right now,
Helping these people who have already lost hope,
And their own lives.

Give me a million reasons,
Waking up sad on a new morning,
To see this world, changed by you,
Looking now at them as they are protected,
By your society, for some too rich.

I want to believe that you’ll hear my message,
And this feeling of pain in my soul,
Which I wear, always thinking of their despair,
In the lives of many of them, with too much suffering,
And unfair,
Just because they were born with no chance,
Will disappear.

Give me a million reasons!

About this poem

Too much poverty and suffering in the world. And too much corruption! Now, with the war in Ukraine, many are homeless.
