A Drunk no more, A Poet evermore
gregg connolly 1956 (pennsylvania)
No longer in a bottle, no smelling like a skunk
Forever writing lyrics, now I’m Mister Funk
Waking every morning, head in the sink
Now my dawn has risen, my spirit can truly think
Every evening a drunken fest, never giving it a rest
Now dusk arrives, my soul has given the day its best
I loved every drop I drank, my good buddy with cigarettes
The picture my life painted, amber colored, was a ugly vignette
!00,000 bottles of beer, 1000 fifths of whiskey, and 30 cigs a day
I still walk upright, very lucky indeed, my eternal sleep on delay
Monkies on my shoulder are but shadows,Their desires still haunt me,
Rebirth, senses and emotions return, now i feel the world and thee
Each day the beautiful lyrics flow, my genius displays a panoply
Calmness has returned, mania had to flee, now I’m all just glee
I hope my poems will impact your life, bring clarity to your needs
Make an impact on the world, bring peace and harmony
