My Green Being

threadbare and loose, worn and forlorn
your fingers won't hesitate to find a tear
scents of laughter, nicknames, pushing and yearning
i wear her again, however torn

green electricity, comfortable silence
she shakes my skies with violence
through schools of mine and my sister's youth
she speaks again, uncouth

woven from the warp and waft of a loom,
thank you, Maddie, for this gift,
sweeping my past like a broom,
again and again, i hear her voice lift
