The Social Dilemma

You sit and stare at your phone
And pretend like no one is home
No ones paying attention to you
And there is nothing to do
There is no buzzing the room
Its silent for once

No snapchat, no facebook, no twitter or insta,
There isn't even a single whisper,
You go to sleep,
Still not a peep,
and wait for another day,
Where someone might say hey!

You wake up with notifications a plenty
There is at least more than 20
But it’s hard to get over something that can give
More opinions in the world that aren’t always positive

We sit on our phone for hours
Texting, calling and scrolling
Our algorithm is in control
It’s watching our every move
If only we could prove

That people bully online as well
And we take in things that make us unwell
We take photos and edit them to the bone
But it’s only coming from our phone
All we want is attention
Even just want a tag or mention

We should limit this obsession with phones
That cause bullying, and abusing online
It doesn’t make you any better
What ever happened to writing a letter
 
You have to stop but its really tough
This addiction you have is more than enough
You aren’t speaking to the world in person
And I fear that may worsen
Limit yourself you don't have time
To sit on your phone all day and whine.
