I'm in a box

I’m in a box
But the box is small and shut with tape
And the tape wraps and steals the light from peeking through the gaps of the joints

I’m in a box
The box in your attic collecting the dust
The one forgotten
The one that was once loved

Oh if I was loved
If I was loved then I wouldn’t be small
I would be free, I would be happy, I would live

I could see the world through your eyes
And constantly be reminded of you smile
As the sun sprays it’s heat into your hair
I could remember the love that we used to share, but

I’m in a box
I have been discarded and used and shared
I am no longer new
Broken, tired and sliced
That is me, as I lay in my box

About this poem

This poem is about the feeling of drifting away from someone you love, the feeling that you have been forgotten. It is also about manipulative relationships where one is so in love they only see the happiness of the other person when in reality once they are done with you they push you away leaving you with the remains of loneliness and depression
