The Old Man's Moon Dance
We used to come here in the night
When all was calm and the waves
Slapped the rocks like drums
And the sand hissed.
We would look at each other ‘s eyes
And see the fiery passion
Rising with the tide
And our heartbeats pulsated in riot.
We listened to a nocturnal concert
And watched the lights from the fishing rig
Bobbing in and out of view
As our senses were split out of control.
We used to come here with dreams
Of a big family and poetry
Paintings, sculptures and song
Of genetics uniting continents.
Yes, on this rock we sat drenched and panting
Bruised knees and elbows sore
But resigned to the nectar
Of never ending bliss.
Tonight I dance alone with the moon.
