Acceptance

Acceptance is something that is learned with experience in life.
Acceptance is not a god given skill, one that you can use whenever you feel like it.
Acceptance takes time. It takes heart.
There is something that I've had well over half a year to accept and yet I still haven't found out how.
True love is a wonderful thing. But what makes a love true?
If a love doesn't last then how could it be true?
I've been struck with this false idolism that has scared me for my days to come.
I believed a love once to be true.
I suppose you can take me for a fool because of that.
But that "true" love had a beginning and an end.  An end that has left me quite bitter.
Thoughts of the once shared love still swirl around in my mind rather often. I cannot bring myself to accept that it is over.
In my head I know the truth, but my head and my heart seem to disagree from time to time.
I have not spoken words in person to them in a long time.
But in my daydreams I talk to them all the time.
If only I had time to learn acceptance beforehand.
