The Hurricane

My life is a hurricane;
only defined
by its destruction.

I am
the eye
of the storm
seeing it unfold
yet, unable
to hesitate
for even the slightest
moment.

Although I may seem,
unapologetic
even I have regrets.
My apathy
is the rain
crashing upon
your shores.

My doubt
is the howling wind
tearing
through your city.
My love
is the sun
on the horizon.

My lust
is the urge
to do it all
again

I am
the hurricane.

About this poem

I wrote this piece when I was coming to grips with my mental illnesses, comparing my emotional turmoil to the destruction brought on by a hurricane.
