Nocturne

It’s a nightfall dance
Peeper frogs draw hearts in air
That cicada’s call.
Opulent gray trees
in their small starlit shivers
one cries from his cell.
Coverlet and breath
startled by tasting honey
soft harmless lightning.
Star air is distant
this one twig and grassy acorn
animal eyes blink.

soft soft soft still still
quiet quiet hush hush still
brush brush slay day away.
