Against The Tide
Donald James Kirby Von Koehler 1965 (Burien)
Against The Tide
As we turn the page of another day in the book of our life,
We find our strength is waning in the twilight of our strife.
Seeking the solutions to motivate us up the slopes to higher ground,
Where we discover new strength within ourselves unlike any we had ever found.
Truth is an Illusion at times when we live outside the reach of reality,
The things we swear we know in all actuality really may not be.
We've been fooled into believing all the news we know to be true,
When actually they have agendas we know nothing about what they want to do.
We're like lost fish swimming upstream against the tide,
Our lives have us in constant flux going from side to side.
Wandering in and out of the crowd going against the tide,
Facing the challenges along the way not just along for the ride.
Speak as if wisdom was a part of the heart inside your soul,
Speak as if you were only interested in the salvation of your goal.
Life isn't a script in a play though the world appears like a stage,
We feel as if everyone is watching to see if we are coming of age.
No matter how far the distance if it's all swimming against the tide,
You know with persistence you can overcome the obstacles where they reside.
The truth of the matter is from the start you always swam against the tide,
You never imagined love was a part of you & always on your side.
