ETERNITY

The lemon tree gave off
A crisp and pungent smell.

The people in the orchard
Having played their games
Of chess or cards
Got up and went their ways.

Others drawing-----who knows-----
What regrets
From their cigarettes
Sat for a while
And departed, too.

A few young fellows
Quickly passed through
Going their various ways
To various goals.

But I was only watching
The dust on my shoes
And thinking-----for long.
