Redemption

I’ve changed, but the world around me stayed the same.
I no longer play the victim, in a world that’s burning in the flame.
I’m no longer trapped in my shame,
or another pawn in the game.
I once was a beast now those instincts lay tame.

A part of me was locked inside my mind,
Feeling trapped inside a bind,
I would find,
these pictures representing how my light no longer shined.

I was way outside my prime,
Serenity was silenced like a mime,
I thought there was no victim in my crime
While I was dying the whole time.

Like a zombie I was deceased,
And it was torture in the least,
being set up for a feast,
By my demons consuming every sentiment of peace.

I lay dormant for years,
For I was hindered by my fears.
Stifling myself until emotion clears,
For I would bottle up the tears.

My rage was corrosive to my energy.
I was selfish and full of negativity.
Getting high was my festivity,
In the mirror I saw an unknown entity.

All of my emotions,
Came like waves in the ocean.
So I would grab another potion,
And begin overdosing.

I was gone to everyone who mattered
My life remained shattered
My world was clearly tattered
My ego bruised and battered

There were two roads I could see.
One would be the death of me,
The next to change who I will be.
I chose the path of my recovery.
