Light at the End of the Tunnel
Somewhere, out on the streets
There exists a band of hearts.
Lonely, they play echoes of pain
All in perfect rhythm and beats.
I think that band of rock and roll
Reaches all of us in some way
I think those echoes in the alleys
Beat in unison inside of our soul
Somewhere, out in the streets
There exists a solo singer
Wailing his heart out in the rain
But nobody stirs from their seats.
I think that singer is all of us
And we each reach our staccato notes
With each beat of our hearts
Nobody to vent to, to discuss
Somewhere, out in the streets
There exists a single street light
With a box of kittens underneath
Their mewls and cries for comfort repeats.
I think those kittens are all of us
Hoping for someone to come along
And take us to somewhere safe and warm
Somewhere, and with not a fuss.
Somewhere, out in the streets
There exists salvation
A light at the end of the tunnel
A friend you can finally meet.
I think that hope lives in all of us
And we can each reach it, in time.
There’s always a helping hand to lift us
To wash away that blood and pus.
If you need help, don’t be afraid to ask.
There’s always somebody up to the task.
You are loved more than you know, even if you feel alone.
About this poem
I think there's a little misery in all of us, rich and poor, old and young. There's so much stress and pain and hurt in the world today, and I think it's super important to remember that a lot of the problems you face are temporary. There's always a way to fix a situation. You're loved, and you are stronger than you know.
