NEGATIVE PAST, POSITIVE FUTURE

I will soon say goodbye to 2018,
And finally step out of the dark.
I'm getting ready to welcome 2019,
And my journey of which I'll embark.

It is now time to reinvent my life,
Have friends who are real, not fake.
Surround myself in only the positive,
And negativity I will no longer take.

I won't allow myself to be walked over,
Or be taken for a fool.
I'm going to free my soul into the light,
And let it shine like a precious jewel.

No longer in my life will I just look,
From now on, I will actually see.
And even though I am making these changes,
On the inside, I will still be me.

I want to truly make a name for myself,
With my poetry and graphic design.
I want to see my work being sold in shops,
And be proud knowing that it's mine.

I want my poetry to be my legacy,
Which in the scheme of things, may seem small.
May they fill people's hearts with happiness,
And be an inspiration to all.

Goodbye to the freeloaders and the selfish,
There's nothing more I am willing to give,
And goodbye to just existing,
It's now time for me to live.

So when midnight arrives on New Year's Eve,
And this year has finally gone.
I will put into affect my new regime,
And say to the world, "Bring it on"!
