Faded

Claudia Krizay 1956 (Washington DC)

Faded

I whisper harmonious melodies-
Hidden stars haunting at twilight
Hasten to illuminate the darkening fog.

Sorrowful remembrances would fade,
And intermesh with the clouds,
Scarcely visible after the midnight hours.

I recall my reflection in an antiqued mirror,
Faintly distinguishable- staring back at me-

Sordid memories are somehow whisked away
In a tranquil twilight’s breeze…

As fog rolls over the skyline-
The world stops in its revolution.
I watch over my lingering shadow as it fades into the lifting fog.

I walk alone amidst a clearing pathway,
To explore my hopes and visions.

Upon this serene but elusive moonlit night,
I await my shadow to be restored.
