I've Lost a Part of Me

I lost a part of me,
The part of me that used to write.
putting my fingers to a keyboard, allowing my feelings to turn into words that would later be read by many or none.
I lost a part of me,
The part of me who found a feeling of peace in sitting in front of a screen and getting lost is what was there and not what used to be.
I lost a part of me,
The part of me who was quickly cheered up by the tears that ran down my cheek as I let go of unwanted feelings of pain.
I lost a part of me,
I lost that part that found joy in words but now I have found that same joy and peace in other things.
So in losing a part of me, I also found and made room for new parts.
I found a part of me.

About this poem

I was an accomplished poet on the first Poetry.com site, such a long time ago. I had my poems published in their books, none that I could afford to buy and I won awards. I stopped writing poetry, I lost that part of me but I found new ways of expression, so here is this poem.
