I Remember

Milkman ,breadman, iceman, coal man,
Magazine man, handy man  and so many more.
It will never be the same
With no salesman not knocking on your door.

A  bag of popcorn with butter and salt for 10 cents,
Candy bar, chiclets all for just a dime.
Life was simple with no expense.
A dollar bill would seem to last a lifetime !

Making kites, parachutes, and even sling  shots
Homemade things was what we did
Match box boats, we sailed without any thought
Because first and always I was still a kid.

A boy in grade one once told me
I  came out of my mother's tummy.
I was perplexed as I could be
She was my dear old mommy !

In a kids mind, why should I care ?
Where I came from and so what
I was having too much fun to be in despair.
See, my head was full of curls and never been cut !

If you can't remember as a kid about your past
Especially when you are old and grey
That's your fault not to have a blast,
In my elder lifetime ,my memories will always stay !
