Everybody's Mother

James Walker 1952 (Louisiana)

Ode

She's Everybody's Mother,
She blows her breath,
On every little burn and scratch

She soothes,
every little wound and scar

She kisses,
every little bump and bruise

She dries our eyes,
every time pain makes us cry
And then, she cries for us

She helps us to solve,
every little problem and dilemma

She offers her wisdom,
at every little corner of confusion

She leads in applauds,
at our every little accomplishments

She crosses cultural lines,
and then ties them together again

She connects us,
in the most emotional of ways

She's Just Like A Mother,
And Everybody Loves Her,
She's Oprah
