The Wall

Oh what my eyes have seen
is more than I can stand,
Bloodshed in the jungles,
in the sea and on the sand.
And how my heart weighs heavy
for the ones who gave their lives,
The ones who'll never see again
their children or their wives.
Oh how do we repay them,
these boys of our concern,
The ones we lost forever,
the ones who won't return.
We build these walls of granite,
of marble and of stone.
To let them know that truly,
they never are alone.
And if we ever wonder,
what freedom means at all
Just look at all the names
we've placed upon The Wall.
