THE UNHOLY BROTHERHOOD

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

A dark brotherhood
Sworn to do evil against,
All who live outside.

Slander your neighbour
To any extent required,
By the brotherhood.

A secret guild that
Meets late in the evenings,
To plot evil deeds.

Secret society
Where blood oaths are sworn out,
In dim-lit chambers.

Leather-aproned men
Perform unholy rituals,
Far from prying eyes.

Kneeling, blindfolded men
Swear away their lives,
If they break their blood oath:

"Cut my throat across
Then tear out my tongue," pledges
One initiate.

"Tear my breast open
And feed my heart to vultures,"
Says a second man.

"Sever my body
Then burn my bowel," a third,
Thinking it a game.

"Scatter the ashes
To the wind," the third goes on,
As yet unawares.

Precious "Jahbulon"
The sacred word to keep,
Hidden from normal men.

God of old Chaldee
Joined with great Osiris,
To lead a modern sect.
