Goodbye Darkness, My Old Friend
Light breezes blow leaves down quiet streets
Orange and red in a cool autumn wind
Not as cold in all new directions
As in summers where I have been
I remember you with fondness
But I only ache now in my bones
Pterodactyl scorpion cross breeds
Make a nest of my childhood home
Progress reaches medieval proportion
It seems loss is all I've ever known
And I love you so, but time cuts
Losses of family and home
Stalin's flying monkey soldiers
All morphed into parrots with fangs
Blinded by rage in their cages
Convicted by lullabies sang
Clearly, I have worn out my welcome
They demand that I stay away
Parrots squawking in righteousness
Wanna monkey with my DNA
Progress reaches medieval proportion
It seems loss is all I've ever known
And I love you so, but time cuts
Losses of family and home
So goodbye to all this darkness
The cold of this summer must end
Cutting losses for colder weather
Leaves in a warm autumn wind
Where parrots ain't nothin' but parrots
And apes ain't nothin' but apes
Where family and friends are just family and friends
And home ain't nothin' I would want to escape
Progress reaches medieval proportion
It seems loss is all I've ever known
And I love you so, but time cuts
Losses of family and home
