The Separation
It’s only a matter of time,
Love’s moon less brightly will shine.
We didn’t know how it came about.
Lonely days have kept our souls apart.
Nothing stands still in this world,
Even love must grow or it withers.
Coldness and indifference lies in between,
It dims the sunlight, never to be seen,
We walk alone and cry out under the stars,
But everything seems so far.
The weight of memories we keep,
Hearts must ache and eyes must weep.
Our spirits have grown apart,
We lingered for as long as we can,
Our eyes spoke more than our lips can ever say,
From each other’s arms we slip away.
We cannot say what changes love,
No new movements of the heart are ever like the old.
The promise never to forget
Can’t sustain the love we once had.
