Analysis of The Power in Words
Rahimeen Lodhi 2005 (Toronto)
It’s a constant battle
Of deadly phrases,
That stab like knives
In the worst of places.
How many more heartbreaks and suicides,
Do we need to witness
For people to understand
That words hurt. A lot.
It’s known all too well,
That silence speaks volumes,
The drowned-out cries
Elevate exhausted expressions.
Words could spread bliss and hope,
Bring us together under comforting sermons.
But now it’s seen as a weapon,
One that holds great strength in manipulation.
Sharp words can cut the tongue that utters it,
And generate terror in the heart that receives it,
Yet not everyone believes it,
But more people misuse it.
