Analysis of This Side

There's a strange light this side of the storm,
A ragged edge shining where the seams are torn,
And what spills through is the palest shade
Of violet before it burns to gold.

There's a strange beauty this side of the wind,
That leaves nothing behind in the crawling sand,
And what takes shape is the secret name
Of God from before the Fall.

There's a strange hush this side of the grey,
Where we stand and stare, confused and amazed,
And what paused at the peak of the rushing tide
Is gone with our next breath.

There's a strange peace this side of the storm,
As twilight descends in silver discord,
With the restless sea still climbing the sky
To clash in brilliant crosses between the clouds.
