Analysis of Patrie/Heimat (Native Land)
Cold chills run my spine,
My speech is stymied,
My thoughts of you invade my mind,
Ideals consume my time!
Looking upward, I watch your flag,
Units marching by,
Children behind us playing tag,
Their spirits never sag!
Emotions run so deeply
On patriotic occasions,
Regiments climbing steeply,
The aged following feebly!
What I felt as a child must be truly real,
My loyalty unquestioned,
I stand at attention on even keel,
The music stokes my zeal!
