Analysis of My First Cry
His two cracked ribs (sustained from a fall
Off a horse in the Mohave Desert) hurt like hell,
But "comfort zone" was in his "do-or-die" resolve--
To break the never crossed barrier. In his Bell XS-1,
High above the earth (at 42,00 ft.),
Heaven came down--with a jolt in his ninth...
A Mach 1.06, or 700 miles per hour,
Beating the last failed attempt...
A Mach 0.94. And, he was thunderstruck--big time!
Because for the very first time--in all human history,
He flew faster than the speed of sound,
Flying--as he put it, "smooth as a baby's bottom."
The world heard, for the very first time--a sonic boom.
And--my Nanay and Tatay...
My first cry.
And after a score and seven years,
After that first cry, I found myself...
Crying a river--flying 10,000 miles away. ...
For making 'the day' of my coming..."historic and
Unforgettable," albeit, by happenstance...
My parents thank you, my children
(I hope) thank you, and I thank you!
