Analysis of Crystal Sets

I reflect casually
on what has been,
The crystal set
as it was seen,
Used the whisker
to locate a site,
Listened through headphones
well into the night.

No batteries required
with no power source,
Portable and compact
but elementary- of course,
Young- with dreams
those were the days,
Able to relax,
and follow a craze.
=====
Yes the radio
was very rarely had,
Those possessing one
were happy and glad,
Then with reverence
you heard a voice,
Selected a station,
with skill and choice.
=====
Slowly and steadily
came valves and resisters,
Then  in time,
there was the transistors,
Now with  stereo
and modern Dolby Sound,
Nary a trace
of crystals are found.

About this poem;-
Remembering about the chanages over the years I could not
help[ but think of these crystal sets and how they worked.It was considering the old days when i wrote this poem
How intrigug were those old crystal sets.They operated without batteries or any other means.Through them most youngsters
were able to have a taste of what radio was all about in those early days. The costs were minimal and the range of reception was

quite astounding.Gone those days into history.  To even find such a set that operates is now difficult.”
