Analysis of 12:52AM (Inspired by Migdalia Burgoin)
I wrote the first one at age 16, shortly after I started writing poetry. The second piece was done just before this was posted, about three years later.
Late at night
I close my eyes
And not before long
I soon realize
Tonight I won't sleep
Nonstop my mind flies
I want some release
But I don't want goodbyes
I thought I had no problems
Well now I'm not so sure
Because at Twelve fifty-two AM
I'm just looking for a cure
Don't know where it is
Everything is all a blur
And blurry it shall stay
Until the next time I see her
(Written on November 16, 2009)
As this night begins to age
I attempt to drop my thoughts
But within the time allotted
I'm a fool for what I've fought
Rest won't ever come for me
On this slow round of the clock
For when the morning comes
My thoughts, once more, will mock
It's never been this onerous
To keep my thoughts so pure
But now it's three fifty-two AM
And I still haven't found the cure
For within the time allotted
It's all been one big blur
My heart, just a pathetic mess
On it's way to finding to her
