Analysis of Love and Depression
Alicia Baker 1996 (Monticello, Ky)
People sometimes belittle you to make themselves feel better,
People sometimes express themselves through a nasty letter,
People put people through what they call “tough love” or whatever.
People sometimes express themselves through violent smacks,
Instead of something through no words and silent acts.
People sometimes don’t care who they hurt when they are in pain,
They take their anger out on you like you’re the blame,
for their agonizing pain.
Then you think finally going to be happy,
Then you realize life can be crappy.
As you fall to the bathroom floor,
The tears start to pour more and more.
You start to realize “What is my life meant for?,”
People always leave me and walk out that door.
That’s when she starts to cut
Then the tears and blood start to pour more and more.
You done it for a couple years,
You also shed plenty of tears for many years.
Then one day something spoke to you “You need to think about the people who love you.”
“Think about what if something happened to you. Think about how they would feel if you died”
Then you collapsed on the floor and realized what you were doing and cried,
And cried, because you felt like your joy inside of you died.
Starting from that day you made and promise and swore “I will never cut my skin again.”
From that day on you never cut again, but started to let your feelings and emotions out through words on paper and a pen.
Then it was an uphill battle until you met a guy and he broke your heart,
Then soon you realized that you shouldn’t cry and that you were better off apart from the start.
It was a up and down battle for years,
You realized that you finally made it through all that pain and tears.
Months went by then you started to feel better,
You started to writing to express yourself letter by letter.
You realized that all those voices that you heard were wrong,
and you realized you are very strong.
