Analysis of Betrayal
Benson Chukwueke 1971 (Owerri)
Now you look down on your people
As you pass them by the street
Cos' the friends you have betrayed
You dare not look up into their eyes
Your brothers, your kinsmen
Together you once drink and dine
Who voted you to a position of trust
To represent them in the council
The same you demolished their houses
And you took over the Land
The same you emptied the treasury
And you snatch away their wives
With flashy cars and mansions
Bought with the tears of your people
And to think of the evil men do
Men who sit on the seat of power
Feeling they are gods
But has sold their heart to the devil
