Analysis of Unheard
Rachel Rene’e Radtke 1995 (Minnesota)
They can’t see it,
They can’t feel it.
It must not exist,
If I can conceal it?
I’ve grown tired of pretending,
Like everything is okay.
My soul gets weary,
From the words I don’t say.
I will raise my voice now,
For anyone who has felt unheard.
I will try to speak up for others,
I will try to put together the right words.
I will allow myself to forgive,
For the things I didn’t feel I deserved.
I pray others will see beyond my mistakes,
For God offers all of us mercy and love without it being earned.
