Analysis of Les Demoiselles

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Rasant la mare de leurs ailes
Que le soleil rend irisées,
Elles ne sont jamais posées,
Les inconstantes demoiselles.

Plus vives que les hirondelles,
Elles voltigent, d’air grisées,
Rasant la mare de leurs ailes
Que le soleil rend irisées.

— « C’est l’image des infidèles
« Par qui nos âmes sont brisées ! »
Ainsi je songe à mes croisées
En regardant les toutes belles
Rasant la mare de leurs ailes.
