Analysis of Walk with me

Walk with me for a time if you will, through this forest of mine, where time doth stand still.

It's not easy to be in your head, with all of the memories, the demons, the dead.

I'll paint you a sky as blue as can be, with sunshine and brightness, painted in glee.

But, false is that sky I've painted for you. The veil I shall lift, the sky not so blue.

I can't let you see, it is a lie that shouldn't be. No matter the painting, it just isn't me.

No, my friend, my sky isn't bright. There's too many clouds, they choke out all light.

It's not that I dwell, or love living in hell. I don't even try, but the ground it does swell.

Look at the green, my bushes pristine. But look ever closer, my trees stay unclean.

The storms from the sky, a forest that won't dry, the devils from yesterday, destruction in their eye.

Trees rotten, broken and old. The forest, dark, lonely and cold. The canopy, once green and bright, now withered by sadness untold.

Walk with me if you will, to my river who's waters lie still. I know it's a journey, but patience won't kill.

The shimmer of the lake, memories of love it doth take. A collection of warmth, it's beauty they make.

This is where you'll find, I'm usually here in my mind. The happiest of memories, here they are enshrined.

Like a thief in the night, the waters unable to fight, the forest searches and takes root, contaminates and riddles with blight.

Twilight is all I have, my friend, my sun is burning to its end. The forest is dark and withered, but the lake it cannot bend.

As deep as the water goes, the forest, it always knows. When in the lake I swim, the roots creep toward my toes.

Walk with me, and if I may, tell you what my soul cries to say. This forest is lonely and cold. This forest wants me to stay.
