Analysis of The Power Game

Abby Kesington 1979 (Lagos)

In the game of love, we dance on life’s battlefield,
In the silent spaces where frustrations yield.
He, a lion, exudes dominance and might,
While I, a deer, caught in his gaze, take flight.

His presence, a predator’s stealthy stare,
I feign stillness, as if caught unaware.
Pretending submission, a delicate charade,
In this intricate dance, love’s game is played.

I try to wriggle free from his tight embrace,
But he pins me down, claiming all is fair game!
“I'll be gentle,” he purrs with a sly grin.
Stroking my head with his tongue's cunning spin.

Salivating, ready to cut through my vein,
My hind feet kicks fiercely, breaking his reign.
In that moment, survival trumps the dance,
Love's game now a fight, a wild, desperate chance.

The lion, surprised, retreats in dismay,
As the deer stands firm, finding her own way."

Borne out of an unsavvy experience. Where you are trapped, and your instinct is all you have as a way of escape.....
