Analysis of The living corpse

The happy hopeless homeless
My brethren
My crew
The unhappy
Morally skewed
The weak of will
Living in the street
With a condo made of a tarp
They piss, moan and harp
Pick their corner
Stand and stare
Whatever there selling
Its buyer beware
Without hope or a dream
Their souls are easy to redeem
They have given up in this fight
And wait for deaths nip and bite
They have closed their eyes
To the light

It’s a tired tale
Of how they did fail
Gave up on life
And chose to bail

Help is offered
Assistance proffered
Supported extended
And always rescinded
As if offended
By a human trying to do right

It’s a curious thing
To want to live as a deposed king
With your court being the street
And a rat for a jester
Nibbling at your feet
With your queen on her knees
Worshipping the scepter of anyone with a dollar’s worth of cheese
While your kingdom starves
Poverty carves
Another slice of your will to live
Boundless emptiness
Is all you have to give

Confused by the illusion
That things will get better
As you rest on your throne
Lonely and alone

I invite you
To kneel
Before the one true King
Open your heart
And let him in
All are welcome
To the wisdom of the feast
Turn your back upon
The unforgiving beast
That has cared for you the least

If you’re going to give up
At least give in
To the one to free you from sin
The one to keep his kin
And hold you close
And allow you to win
The prize we all crave
A righteous soul
And useful slave

Abdicate your empire
Silence the liar
In your head
Redeem yourself from the dead
And allow yourself to be led
From the insane domain
Into the realm
Of the true King at the helm
