Analysis of I'm a woman

I’m a woman

I'm a woman
I'm born with an expiration date.
The countdown begins
In my sweet 16th's

I'm a woman
I am a commodity
You can buy me for goats
And kill me for free

I'm a woman
My value lies between my legs
And not between my ears.
I'm a frigid or a whore
Nothing in between.

I'm a woman
I need protection of a man
From other men.
Marry me
And you can rape me legally.

I'm a woman
I'm too fat or to thin,
Too blonde or too dark
Never ok,
Never enough.

I'm a woman,
My voice goes unheard,
Like a scream underwater
Like a fight in a dream.

I'm a woman,
Today I am proud,
I stand tall,
Let me be!

The poem "I'm a Woman" speaks powerfully to the experiences and challenges faced by women in society. Through concise and impactful language, the poem confronts issues of objectification, commodification, and gender-based violence. It highlights the societal pressures and expectations placed upon women, from the valuation of their bodies to the silencing of their voices. The poem captures the contradictory and oppressive nature of patriarchal norms, where women are simultaneously objectified and marginalized. It calls attention to the pervasive inequalities and injustices that women continue to endure, emphasizing the urgent need for change and empowerment. Ultimately, "I'm a Woman" serves as a poignant expression of resilience and defiance, asserting the right of women to be seen, heard, and valued on their own terms. It invites reflection on the broader societal structures that perpetuate gender inequality and the ongoing struggle for gender justice an
