Analysis of The Girl Who Sits Alone

I'm fine
She said
I'm miserable
Is what she really meant
I saw her sitting alone
Every single day
I would never approach her
Because I’d figure she would say
I’m fine
While I hung out with my group of friends
Every time I looked at her
She smiled
She was quite good at pretend
I know not many people liker her
But is being so lonely
Really what she deserves?
Everyday she picks up the same pencil and paper
Pretends to write
Pretends to read
Pretends to work
Pretends to act fine
I can just tell that all her thoughts are intertwined
I wonder what goes through her head
I guess I will forever be the only one to know
Because I am that girl
I am the girl
That sits alone

About this poem

This is a poem about my high school experience, i got bullied, and for quite some time no one liked me. I sat alone for months. While I sat there, at lunch, all I did was write poetry. It is my way to express my emotions. I hope this poem can relate to anyone!

Attiya Garcia

Since I was about 10 years old, I have always loved writing. I write songs, essays, stories, and my favorite, poetry. My aunt really inspires me to keep writing, even though most people think my poems are "depressing". when really, they are a way to cope with tough situations. I hope when reading my poems you get an insight of a teenage mind, or if you are a teenager, I hope you find someone to relate too. more…
