Analysis of Mugshot

I saw your mugshot online today.
I wish I could say I was surprised,
But I already learned your real game,
And knew that bottle would be your demise.

I would like to tell you I am sorry
That you found yourself back in a cell,
Or bussed back across the border
Into your past, uncertain hell,

But that apology belongs to me
For failing to love myself enough
That I drank in your endless lies,
And craved your poisoned draft of love.

Celeste Fritsche

While I often dabbled in writing poetry growing up, I have recently found a new passion for doing so. When not at my desk job, or walking one of my dogs, I am typically writing poems, painting, wood burning, hand etching glass, or occasionally working with resin. I love to create, and I hope that my creations put a little bit of beauty back into this often dark and broken world. more…
