Analysis of If...

I can't promise you the moon,

But I can make you laugh when you feel gloom.

I can't give you diamonds,

But I can share your burdens.

I can't call you every night,

But I will keep you in my sight.

I can't tolerate a lie from you,

But I will forgive if you are true.

I can't suppress my pride,

But for you I can step aside.

I try to forget you sometimes,

But I get drawn back by your sublime.

I can't completely let go,

It's only you I want to know.

I know all of you,

Never a day goes by without missing you.

Well dear, I am enchanted by you,

Because like rain, you give life and freshness.

It's only you I desire,

Just a lover waiting for you to admire.
