Analysis of SWEET 18

Steria Nicole 2004 (Rumphi)

Amazing sweet 18
A song of victory of the adolescent,
A lyrical defeat of dictatorship,
A triumph entry to freedom,
For this is the 21st century.

Amazing is sweet 18
A journey to new adventure where
Youths are detectives of life,
Discovering unsolved mysteries,
Either of fashion or new school of bad boys
Those that open their ancestors mouths,
Either in amazement or wonder
In this course of 21st century.

But then,
Sweet 18 is not yet angelic
What's there to celebrate in a barren sweet 18?
One that is dressed in gold,
Not for appreciation but,
Misery on the onlookers.
One that drinks like a fish,
And yet not from their wells
But mines from other people's pockets.
What's there to be proud of,
If growing means wilting not blooming?
Whether for destruction or creation,
The song shall forever be sung,
Happy sweet 18.
