Analysis of I don't know.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

I don't know.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what a lover's sweet, smooth lips feel on mine. I always get left behind. I don't know what the smell of her scent is like as she walks through the door. I sit on the floor and try to imagine her smooth, ivory skin on mine. I don't know how to say I love you it makes me want to lay down and cry. I don't know how she feels when she's lying by my side. I only run and hide. Please take my hand so I can understand. My dear, I have smooth lips. I wear sweet perfume. I do have ivory skin, and I will lay by your side. Take my hand, and now you will understand. I don't make any demands.

About this poem

All these things I do not know I forgot about them a long time ago. But they're always on my mind. That's one thing I can't leave behind.
