Analysis of Foolish For Tall, Dark, and Handsome

Heartaches come and go
And glasses of tears are shattered
But when will I find the one
The one who really matters?

I patch and mend my stolen my heart
From those who left me wretched
My heart was broken a million times
Twinges of pain I’ve regretted

They say a girl should love every man
And they'll give love back to you
If they don't, all you'll have to do
Is give it your all a time a two

So, I wore my heart on my sleeve
Beating for the world to see
Unshielded from dangers
Like a pinata for Princes to make bleed

Fragmented time revealed a mystery
The one I can't explain
When the one I like loves me back
But I can't feel anything but pain

I cry not because I've been rejected
But because someone fell for me
I feel so stupid and depressed
They loved the girl their eyes can only see

Deep inside, they do not know
That girl is someone else
A girl who cries on dreary nights
While laughing at jokes she sells

I harbor a secret of bitter shame
A lifetime of bruises, hunger, and pain
I’d rather relinquish my truth for a simpler life
As a normal plain Jane

It’s easier me to be Jane
The girl who has never known any shame
The girl who always listens
The girl who never circles the drain

I am (am I?) to blame
For all of the secrets I hold
All I want is to be loved
And not be treated oh, so cold

Now, I rely on my broken heart
Ever so miserable and pitiful
Waiting for a love from someone
Who seems almost mythical

I ready my soul, my mind
And my heart for a feast
For I am the beauty
And he is the beast
