Analysis of Did You Get The Message

Robert T. Davenport 1979 (Newark, New Jersey)

Did You Get The Message
By Robert T. Davenport

Did you get the message, hidden within the lines?
Did you feel the emotions, the thoughts intertwined?
In the words that I wove, did you find a connection?
Or did they pass you by, without any reflection?

For poetry is a language, beyond mere words,
It speaks to the soul, where truth often stirs.
It carries a message, a meaning so deep,
A journey of thoughts, for the heart to keep.

Did you hear the whispers, the secrets untold?
Did you sense the longing, the stories unfold?
In the rhythm and rhyme, did you find a melody?
Or did it all fade away, lost in obscurity?

For poetry is an art, a canvas of expression,
A symphony of words, seeking comprehension.
It paints vivid pictures, with colors unseen,
Inviting you to explore, to delve in between.

Did you grasp the essence, the essence of my soul?
Did you see the fragments, the pieces that I stole?
In the verses I crafted, did you find a reflection?
Or did they pass you by, without any connection?

For poetry is a mirror, reflecting our shared plight,
A bridge between hearts, in the darkest of night.
It speaks of love, of pain, of joy and despair,
Inviting you to feel, to truly be aware.

So, did you get the message, hidden within these lines?
Did you feel the emotions, the thoughts intertwined?
In the words that I wove, did you find a connection?
Or did they pass you by, without any reflection?

For poetry is a gift, a language of the soul,
A vessel of truth, that can make us whole.
Open your heart, let the words resonate,
And in the beauty of poetry, find your own fate.
