To Autumn
O Autumn, thou art here with all thy charms
The mellow fruits, the golden leaves, the breeze
That softly whispers through the fields and farms
And fills the air with sweet and spicy scents.

Thy beauty is a feast for every sense
The eye delights in thy rich colors bright
The ear enjoys thy music and thy silence
The touch admires thy texture and thy light.

Thy bounty is a blessing and a gift
The ripe and juicy apples, pears, and grapes
The nuts and seeds that fall and crack and drift
The honey and the cider that we taste.

But thou art also sad and melancholy
For thou dost know that winter is thy folly.
