Analysis of Lousy Day! Happy Ending!
LOUSY DAY! HAPPY ENDING! By Paul M. Kurland
You ask me what my day was like
and I just answer “ugh”
I started off head over heels
when I tripped on the rug.
And then the skies they opened up,
my umbrella still at home.
I’d be a fool to write this down, expressed within a poem.
It just got worse. Where was the bus?
I came in late to work.
The boss just was not proud of me.
I saw it in his smirk.
If I could just forget it all
I’m sure I’d find my smile.
But more and more went bad today.
I lost the client’s file.
My day at work came to an end,
the longest day by far.
I left my phone within my desk.
For my day that was par.
At least the bus arrived on time, although there was no seat.
And please don’t ask about the tire. That made my day complete.
When getting off I missed a step
and yes, I found the mud.
So, you can see this day was bad.
It was a total dud.
Then I came home, and you weren’t there, and I forgot my keys.
I stood outside. The rain came back. And I fell too my knees.
Now you may think I hate today
for all of its alarms.
But in the end, I found my smile.
I landed in your arms.
