Analysis of Acceptance
Colten Keller 2008 (North Carolina)
Do you ever feel a little lonely
Like your the only one who cares
Sometimes you don’t want to get out of bed
Sometimes you just lye and stare
Wishing you could relive your best moments
Thinking life isn’t quite fair
I’ve been wishing I could know you
Trying to keep you in my heart
But I just can’t hold you like I want to
Keeping these emotions bottled up
I understand it is not smart
So in this I write true
Never lie to the ones you love
But in reality I know your not the one
You will hurt me once again
Do not pretend as if I am your friend
Just let me move on and make fake amends

About this poem
It describes the simple yet elegant emotions of one who grieves the loss of one close to them as they were betrayed and cheated upon. Sometimes all you can do in life is accept the hand you have been dealt.
