Analysis of A Meadow
Sadie Shimel 2003 (Apple Valley, CA)
Eating cotton candy and cherries laying in the grass,
Laying down with the sun against my back,
Watching you laugh makes me smile,
Like a meadow of tulips and daisies that go on for miles,
Wishing I didn't see you just once in a while,
Holding your hand while we step in the spring,
Makes me feel like when the current gets strong, I'll be standing, and I won't sink,
Your brown eyes looking at the sky watching the clouds go by,
Makes me love the way it attracts your attention,
With such pure interest that you never really see,
Like a daydream you'd really like to dream,
The trees have a light breeze that play an enjoyful song with birds that like to hum along every morning and afternoon,
When the sun goes down and when it rises,
The feeling of May makes everything feel brand new,
Like the weather outside when it's not too cool and the flowers start to bloom,
The feeling is perfect and for once not blue,
My heart skips a beat when you say, "what's next?",
We run through the fields and back,
We fall then jump around,
We laugh and cry and I know this won't be the last,
Embracing you as I tell you, I love you, knowing I really know I do,
Everything for once in its place, because I know you feel the same way that I do.

About this poem
I wrote this poem about love. I wanted it to to be sweet and innocent because I feel like I don't see that at all or often these day. I also wanted to include nature because I find a lot of peace in nature.
