Analysis of A Rugged Lot at Christmas

The shepherds were a rugged lot
With strength and patience too.
A job well done was all they got
Since sheep was all they knew.

Some education must have been
A part of childhood years,
Because when angels entered in
Their presence all their fears

Were softened since they understood
The message that they heard.
They sensed importance and how good
Was every Angel word.

They also knew how best to say
What they had heard and seen,
When with the Baby in the hay;
His parents so serene!
