Analysis of promise?

return to me.
let me feel your tears,
let me love you,
erase all of your fears.

pull up your sleeves,
show me your scars,
scars i’ve seen you create,
let me admire them from afar.

a body undeserving
of the pain carved everyday,
let me feel your hands,
for i need you to stay.

blood on my hands
as i hold your wrists,
see cuts that go deeper
every time you slit.

breathe slow,
for i have always known.
return the blade you use to cut,
the one that cuts
right through the bone.

let me wipe your eyes,
and bandage your wrists,
keep them on,
promise me it.

bury your head in my neck
cry to me until we’re a wreck.
next to you i’ll lay until you rest,
just promise you’ll stay
for whatever comes next?

About this poem

This poem is about being there for those who’ve struggled with mental health, or really any issue for that matter. I wanted to bring this side of these topics to light, because while they’re struggling we’re left to just watch our loved ones slowly disintegrate, their life just going to waste. Though personally, I have thankfully never had to go through this, it would absolutely break me to see my loved ones suffer, when all I would want was for them to feel protected with me.

Lalita Rotte

Hi! I’m Lalita, mostly known as Lalli :) I’m 14 years old and poetry has been in my life for as long as I can remember, about 8 years! Though I’ve really only started to regularly write again this year, I hope my pieces touch your heart like they did to mine! (p.s, please keep in mind that any and everything I write about is purely fictional and does not relate to anything or anybody. Stay safe and I love you!) xx, lalli ♡ more…
